Disclaimer

“Jordan Soze” is a pseudonym I made when I signed up for an online music forum when I was in high school. Consider all stories fiction. Consider rants, raves, and opinions as hyperbolic stress-relief which are not representative of my true personal beliefs. In everything I write, many details are obscured and obfuscated to protect anonymity.

Who Am I?

I’m a fourth year medical student. Writing has always been an outlet for me to express my thoughts, opinions, and give advice to others.

I want to give readers the advice I wish I could have given myself when I started. (And not some surface level Buzzfeed-quality articles about staying happy in medical school with cliche, generic advice like “make time for your hobbies”). I aim to give real, actionable advice, that you can incorporate into your daily routine.

Sometimes I’ll have a particularly funny or bad day, and I’ll write about it in my Med School Memoirs series. Other times I just feel like writing something satirical to make myself laugh. For all things medical school, see my Medical School page.

In addition to being a medical student, I am passionate about music. I play guitar. I’ve seen over 100 different artists perform live. My apartment is adorned with my favorite records framed on my walls. But sadly, I don’t really have any friends to talk to music about. So I find solace in writing about music on the internet. To read my posts on music, head over to my Music page.

Since I was a little kid, the smell of buttery popcorn & movie theaters have been a source of nostalgia for me. To read my movie reviews and recommendations, check out my Movies page.

I do not make any money from this site. I do not write to gain personal popularity or acknowledgement. I do not want anyone to know who I am. This site is simply for your enjoyment. If you gain advice that helps you in medical school, check out a good movie I recommended, or simply find yourself subtly chuckling at one of my stupid posts, I’ve done my job.

Another disclaimer: If you by chance happen to read my posts and think, “hmm…. that sounds an awful lot like a guy I know”, please do not ever say a word about it. Do not tell other friends and classmates. I can count on one hand the number of people (in real life) who I have trusted enough to tell about this site. I get very anxious when I think about friends and classmates finding out.  Consequently, I would like to stay as anonymous as possible. I write here to give advice, to vent, to tell a joke, to distract myself from studying. If my anonymity is compromised, I will not be able to do this any longer. Thanks for understanding.

  2. Actually, I am in the same boat as you… just about a month left until the board… In fact, I am the oldest student in my entire med school. Much older than you could imagine… I am actually, 56 now and soon to become 57 (until board, I am still 56.. hahaha).. Anyway, I skimmed through some of your stories and just downloaded your Anki deck, and they look awesome to me. If you can breakdown the decks for each system into more categorized, it will be super nice. Thank you for sharing… and good luck on your board…

  3. Hey Will, the Podcasts are likely gone as we’re trying to distance ourselves, but I can ask Hans if there’s still a way to get you a copy of the book. You can send me an email – collegesoze@gmail.com

Best of luck in school. Study hard and have the time of your life
